Abstract：
The phase structure of 3-dimensional SU/(2) lattice gauge theory is studied by using variational method with an independent plaquette trial action. The mean-plaquette internal energy E_p~β curve is smooth, which shows only one confining phase, and is better than that given by independent link trial action.
