Abstract: A Woods-Saxon potential is used to study particle emission. The angular momenta limitation with respect to particle emission is calculated for nuclei with A between 70 and 160 and for four types of deformation. The competition between fission and particle emission is discussed. It is shown that a highly spinning nucleus may first undergo particle emission.
